Planet Earth Magazine

This is an interesting and unique book commissioned by the United Nations Energy Security Council (UNESCO).

Even though we do not normally do printed media advertising, this publication espouses a planetary initiative which we feel may have a broader appeal and lead to the broader opportunity to reach the decision makers who can ultimately change the face of the planet we live on.

Our advertisement is on page 136, and you can reach it by using your mouse to 'turn the pages'.

According to the puslisher, around the start of September, 2008, the publication was mailed out to :

  • CEO, VP, Senior VP, and all EXEC titled individuals at all of the Fortune 500 companies.
  • All members of US Congress
  • All members of Canadian Parliament
  • All Canadian and US investment firms and the leadership of all North American Banks.
  • All leadership members of the press, television, radio and printed media, including all major North American Newspapers.

So whether you are family, a personal friend, corporate friend, Partner, technology partner, supplier, engineer, or one of those CEOs thinking about making a difference, we thought you might like to know that even the United Nations feels that the industry of which we are a part is of Global Security Significance.  We at Hybridyne support that idea and ideal any way we can.

Investment can mean putting your money to work to make more money, or it can mean investing in the infrastructure to make your enterprise more profitable or cost effective.  This article points out that either way, Renewable Energy companies and products should be receiving your attention.

"Environmental and energy investments may provide some good opportunities for those looking for a new place to put their money

... You are looking at an unstoppable, global mega-trend for limited resources, the environment and energy," says Rafael Coven, managing director of Cleantech Indices LLC and the first stock market index of publicly traded clean-technology companies. "

A wakeup Call - meeting the oil depletion challenge Energy Today , March-April 2006

The end of easy availability of fossil fuels makes Renewable Energy even more important.

" We must recognize the limits of our fossil fuel reserves and begin to push for rapid growth in solar energy. For the first time in history, all of humanity will share the same problem. This common challenge can help unify us, to recognize the futility of war and to make governments more responsive to our needs "

Minister’s Statement by The Honourable Laurel Broten, Minister of the Environment

ONEIA Annual Environment Industry Day, Legislative Assembly, November 28, 2005

Mr. Speaker, today is Environment Industry Day at Queen’s Park – an opportunity for my colleagues to meet with some of Ontario’s boldest entrepreneurs, our environmental visionaries, and learn about this vital industry in our great province.

And what an industry it is. The provincial environment sector now includes more than 2,300 companies, with more than 60,000 jobs and revenues of almost $7 billion. They are companies like Trojan UV, which uses ultraviolet light to treat drinking water. This technology has been adopted all over the world. Another company here today is Hybridyne Power Systems, which is improving the efficiency of wind turbines so they capture more wind energy.  The potential for continued growth of companies like these is almost unlimited."

Electricity Swapping Gets Easier The Toronto Star , 12nov2005

Cameron Smith reports on the Ontario Ministry of Energy's announcement of changes to the rules under which electricity may be sold back to 'the grid'.

" Last week, Ontario Energy Minister Donna Cansfield announced the province had revised its net metering rules. Net metering allows consumers, especially farmers, to swap electricity with the distribution company that sells power to them.

The electricity they swap must come from renewable sources, such as small hydro projects, wind turbines, solar installations or biomass conversion (as with a biodigester for manure and farm waste). "

Alternative Energy   Canadian Business, 12Sep2005, page 22

"... the promise of green power is real, and the need for it is urgent.  Disasters such as Katrina and the August blackout two years ago show the vulnerability of traditional energy supply networks. ... Alternatives, particularly green alternatives close to home, offer relief."

"Long ago, Thomas Edison dreamed of micropower - powering enterprises and homes by energy generated near at hand, thus reducing exposure to transmission costs and disruptions to supply.  With traditional energy networks under increasing strain, it looks like Edison's dream may end up a reality."

Ontario to Promote Clean Power   The Toronto Star , 22Aug2005

"Ontario would become the first province in Canada, and possibly the largest jurisdiction in North America, to open its electricity system to small suppliers of renewable energy and pay a premium on each kilowatt of clean electricity it purchases."

"There's no question if the Ontario ministry of energy puts in feed-in laws, that puts out a powerful signal saying we're in this for the long haul," said Sean Whittaker, policy director for the Canadian Wind Energy Association. "We're very much in support of it."

Future Power      National Geographic Magazine, 25Aug2005

"Where on Earth can our energy-hungry society turn to replace oil, coal, and natural gas? "

"As National Geographic reported in June 2004, oil, no longer cheap, may soon decline. Instability where most oil is found, from the Persian Gulf to Nigeria to Venezuela, makes this lifeline fragile. Natural gas can be hard to transport and is prone to shortages. We won't run out of coal anytime soon, or the largely untapped deposits of tar sands and oil shale. But it's clear that the carbon dioxide spewed by coal and other fossil fuels is warming the planet, as this magazine reported last September. "

"... both wind and solar can provide what's called distributed energy: They can make power on a small scale near the user. You can't have a private coal plant, but you can have your own windmill, with batteries for calm days. The more ... communities make their own wind power, the smaller and cheaper central power plants and transmission lines can be."
